Got a pair of these sweet bad boys @ Chicago Comics.
For me, the Steregon sculpt from Nerd One is one of the coolest Kaiju sculpts to come out in recent times. He’s based upon a cool concept (speakers for eyes!), is in a great pose, and has pretty decent articulation for a vinyl Kaiju piece. This particular colorway is for Mark Nagata’s Kaiju Comrades 2 show (which happens to take place at The Design Fiesta Gallery in Harajuku, Tokyo this weekend!). It’s a far more colorful version than the last one and now includes a sweet club as an accessory.
Want more info on the Kaiju Comrades 2 show? Check out this video:
The official Kaiju Comrades site is here.
If you’re in Tokyo April 12th-14th, you really should check out the show. Oh, and you should probably buy this for me, too. Thanks!
From our good friends @ Shawnimals, and our newest sponsor, Rotofugi, check these sweet new Ninjatown Zipper Charms!
Perfect for all kinds of zippers, these new charms are fly (get it?).

Just like the previously released Craig McCracken shirt (read about it here), the Nakatomi Invitational continues this time with my favorite artist….Jim Mahfood. Mr. Mahfood has not only a t-shirt available but also a sweet looking print as well consisting of a lovely lady and a shark with nunchucks, what more could you want? The print runs for $30 and the shirt runs for $20, or you can order both for only $40. I got my print and shirt already ordered and you can order your own right here. This print/shirt will only be available till the end of March or when 100 of each are sold, whichever comes first, so order yours soon.
Attention Hollywood Nerds! Saturday, March 6th @ 7 p.m. The Gnomon School of Visual Effects, in sunny Hollywood, California, is hosting a new art show featuring works by video game developers Naughty Dog (creators of the “Uncharted” series).
I am an enormous fan of the Uncharted games, which are basically moving pieces of art, so it is super cool to see a focus on the team’s individual conceptual works. I mean, look at these sweet pics!

Tone Tank is at it again with another sweet resin bootleg figure. This time, it’s a, yep you guessed it, Non-Racist Skinhead Black Panthro!
From Tone Tank:
Hello People,
Before you start asking yourself, “Yo, is Tone on some racist shit!?”, check this out, it’ll save both of us a lot of breath.
I always knew Panthro was a black man, but recently I was watching the Thundercats as a grown up and it hit me that he was a Skinhead. He has the shaved head. He has the suspenders. He is a black Skinhead.
I decided a ‘Skinhead Panthro’ needed to exist, and I wanted one for myself, so I made 24 of them out of resin and re-purposed vacuum plastic.
Get your own ‘Non-Racist, Black Skinhead Panthro’ at www.scumlife.com or go directly to the Scumlife store.
Get em’ while they last.Oh yeah, my man Scott Thorough made some theme music for a Skinhead Panthro commercial that never got made, that song is awesome and available for free download @ www.scumlife.com…
If you want your very own, you had better move fast! Head over here right now!
Check out this sweet new Tee/print from Powerpuff Girls‘ creator Craig McCracken. Featuring his interpretation of Osamu Tezuka character Magma Taishi (Goldar in the states) done in the style of the classic Bob Dylan print. This T shirt is badass no matter how you spin it.
Available now, get it exclusively @ Nakatomi.com here.
Yesterday, at Toy Fair in New York, Mattel unveiled quite a bit of new MOTUC stuff. Some of it was insanely exciting, some of it was, frankly, cringe-worthy (and that’s saying a lot when you’re talking MOTU!). The reveal that impressed me the most was the new Whiplash figure that they showed, complete with alt 200x-accurate head. Additionally, Count Marzo will finally be getting his first action figure likeness, as well as a super cool new MOTUC She-Ra with both 80’s toy accurate and cartoon accurate heads. It was also announced that Keldor will be a “bonus” quarterly figure that will essentially be an variant of Skeletor in much the same way that Battle Armor He-Man was a variant of He-Man. A really big suprise, however, was that there will be an official release of Gygor, the giant yellow ape figure that never made it off of the drawing board of the original line.
Additionally, this sweet rotocasted giant Tytus figure will see reloease this year as another bonus figure. The intertubes are abuzz with controversey over the fact that he’s not going to be quite as large as the vintage version of the figure. But, what can you do? All in all a pretty cool re-design. Also, at Tytus’s feet, you can see pieces from what will be a bonus “Weapons Pack” that will feature additional weapons and accessories for your figures in alternate colors.
And then there’s this thing. It was announced that one of the MOTUC exclusives for SDCC this year will be this tow pack, featuring Skeletor (with a missing tooth) and Mo-Larr, the Eternian Dentist. Whatever. I’m all for poking fun at MOTU, but I always felt that the Robot chicken Mo-Larr sketch was honestly pretty lame. Here it is, in case you’ve never seen it:
Also worth noting is that Mattel unveiled a second DCUC vs. MOTUC 2 pack that will feature Skeletor vs. Lex Luthor. The comic-style recolor of Skeletor is pretty cool, but in general, the whole thing is pretty “meh” for me. It will, however, get MOTUC on the shelves of Toys R Us. So, I suppose that’s cool.
All images stolen from the good people at ASM, check out all of their MOTUC Toy Fair pics here.

Our friends over @ GameStop have announced yet another cool pre-order exclusive deal, this time for the much-anticipated “God of War III“.
By ordering the game in advance, you’ll receive a sweet poster signed by game concept artist Andy Park, and this very cool Phantom of Chaos skin.
I am a big fan of the G.O.W. games, and as mentioned before, I really dig the in-game-pre-order exclusive movement that GameStop has helped champion. You know you’re going to buy the g.d. game anyway, you might as well get something free for it.
God of War III drops March, 16th.
Pre-order your copy of God of War III from GameStop here.

Continuing what is becoming an unintentionally arachnid-centric week of MOTU customs at Nerd City is this sweet Black Widower MOTUC custom by Masterenglish. It’s cool to see such a simple, yet effective repaint done by someone who has mad sculpting/ customizing skills. The moral of the story? Sometimes a well executed repaint color scheme can be every bit as impressive as complexly resculpted custom figure. Also, stuff like this should show Mattel that there is still great potential for more original characters that are repaints of existing figures (much like Stinkor and Moss Man back in the 80’s).
And, his eyes freaking glow in the dark!

What? What?
More pics/links after the jump! (more…)
The Chicago Urban Art Society hosts the “Sweet Tooth Charity Bakesale and Art Exhibition”, this Thursday, February 11th, successfully combining my two favorite things: candy and art about candy.
This is going to be a very cool event, and supports local art, which is also cool… plus, as mentioned, there will be candy.
Our friends over at Formula Werks have just unleashed their new Workshop line, featuring a sweet new logo design by the one and only Veggiesomething. Additional design work was done by Escape76. What is extra cool about these pieces is that you do, in fact, get to build your own. You get to take these modular designs and put your personal spin on them by choosing both the shirt color and the logo color. How cool is that?
Get yours here!
Our friends @ Nakatomi have released these awesome new prints.
Tim Doyle’s “Batalla en la Esquina de Ditko y Kirby”:
And check out this sweet Destro print available on actual rice paper by Jacob Borshard. Badass:
The poem reads:
Cherry Blossom
Speaks to Destro
‘Tell Baroness
you love her’
Here are some sweet pics from the recently opened Oh No Doom! store and gallery.

Happy Monday Nerd City! I want to talk about a style of beer that people either love or hate, it has polarized more people then the Phantom Menace, I am talking about Double IPA’s or Imperial IPA’s. It’s a full on blitzkrieg of hops in your month that you don’t get with a normal IPA. When brewing beer hops & malt act as the Yin & Yang of beer; malt adds sweetness to beer and hops add bitterness. Most beers are balancing act between the two. Double IPA’s however are full on bitter tongue bruising hop over load. It used to be hard to find a Double IPA because for a short time in the early 00’s there was a hop shortage and hop prices made it hard for a brewery to make a cost effective Double IPA. Now they are becoming increasingly available year round. I will list my top 5 (This is just my opinion and according to my ex-girlfriend it doesn’t matter)
5) Great Lakes Brewery: The Lake Erie Monster. Great Lakes is one of my favorite breweries, the beers they make are always spot on for the style. I got excited to see their interpretation of a Double IPA and it did not disappoint big hop flavor with soft caramel malt flavors.
4) Southern Tier: Unearthly IPA & Inequity . Unearthly has big grassy hop flavors with soft citrus notes that is surprisingly well balanced for the style. I also wanted to mention Inequity because it’s a twist on the style. It’s a Black Double IPA, they use black malt similar to the malt used in stouts to give it a darker color but the citrus hop flavors are not masked by the darker malt.
3) Three Floyd’s: Dreadnaught & Apocalypse Cow. “I love the smell of hops in the morning, it smells like victory” Nick Floyd. Dreadnaught is a slick oily citrus hop assault a well crafted hop bomb from Three Floyd’s. Apocalypse Cow is another twist on the Double IPA, they use lactose sugar that adds a creamy texture to the the onslaught of hop flavor.
2) Lagunitas: A Little Sumpin’ Extra. It’s cool to see a west coast breweries take on a Double IPA, west coast breweries are known for making hoppy pale ales. Big grapefruit citrus hop flavors with a creamy malt. I really enjoyed this beer because it was real easy drinking for a Double IPA, the 8% ABV was well hidden.
1) Bell’s: Hopslam. The Double IPA every hop head dreams of. It comes out once a year and beer geeks squirrel away as many six packs as their fridge will allow. If I could I would dress this beer like Sailor Moon and marry it in Las Vegas. Hopslam is hopped to the gills but has this pleasant creamy finish.
Honerable mentions: Left Hand Brewery Twin Sisters, New Holland Double Hatter, Two Brother’s Heavy Handed, Founders Double Trouble & Dogfish Head 90 & 120 minute.
Till next time, Cheers!
