2008 was a year that had its’ fair share of ups and downs for everyone, but the New Year is here and it’s time to get ready for a FANtastic 2009!

Having put their previous production woes behind them, the guys at Four Horsemen Toy Design Studios hope to soon go into production on new figures, and they’ve once again launched into their online fan-based project – FANtastic Exclusive (http://www.FANtasticExclusive.com) which is up and running right now!

For those not familiar with FANtastic Exclusive, it’s a project the Four Horsemen created where action figure fans get to be actively involved in choosing their favorite characters and various aspects of those characters from many of the Four Horsemen’s creator owned properties. Through rounds of online voting, fans will help in the actual creation of an action figure!

Once the character is chosen and all of the aspects of that character have been decided by action figure fans, very limited numbers of those figures and variants of those figures will be produced and sold through various online toy retailers and toy news websites, action figure magazines, comic conventions and the Four Horsemen’s very own online store – Store Horsemen (http://www.StoreHorsemen.com).

Previous Four Horsemen characters chosen to represent FANtastic Exclusive are Xetheus and Ramathorr – both from the Horsemen property “7 th Kingdom”, and from depths of “Gothitropolis”, Scarabus (an upcoming FAN-Ex release).

The first round of FANtastic Exclusive 2009 voting going on right now is a knock-down, drag-out brawl between 28 characters from various Four Horsemen properties. The voting is simple – You just click on whichever character is your favorite. The six broken and bleeding characters left standing with the most fan-based votes will move on to the next round of voting where they’ll have to go toe to toe against their remaining opponents once more.

That’s it! No big deal, right? Sure it might get a little rough in there, but you’re up for it!

The Horsemen aren’t going to get caught up in which properties the characters belong to this time. They just want you to choose the character you think would make the coolest action figure.

Got it? Then get to it! The Horsemen need your help. This is going to be a very short round of voting and you haven’t even clocked in yet! Don’t forget your boxing gloves and mouthpiece. Have a FANtastic New Year!

FANtastic Exclusive 2009. Where hitting below the belt is not only legal, it’s encouraged!

Microsoft has teamed up with the Rock the Vote folks to allow people to register to vote through Xbox Live. This is definitely an interesting way of going by reaching out to the video game crowd. In the past Rock the vote has worked with MTV, Puff Daddy (I voted so I didn’t die that year) and the WWE. Now if you haven’t registered to vote you can do so and help the Republicans keep control of the White House as they should. Press release below.

Xbox and Rock the Vote to Give Voters a New Platform for Change
First-of-its-kind partnership creates new ways to register to vote and jump into 2008 election.

REDMOND, Wash. — Aug. 21, 2008 — A leading gaming and entertainment platform just became a leading platform for change. Microsoft Corp. and Rock the Vote today announced a groundbreaking partnership that will allow Xbox 360 owners to register to vote, participate in presidential polls and voice their opinions to the presidential candidates. It will all happen through Xbox LIVE starting Monday, Aug. 25, the first day of the Democratic National Convention.

“Xbox is a natural partner to help us reach out to youth voters,” said Heather Smith, executive director, Rock the Vote. “To realize our goal of registering 2 million young Americans by this fall, we need to go where young Americans are, and there’s no doubt in our minds that many are on Xbox 360 and Xbox LIVE.”

This is the first time that Rock the Vote has joined forces with an entertainment partner such as Xbox to reach voters under 30. Xbox LIVE is the largest online social network connected to the television, with membership totaling 12 million — if Xbox LIVE were a state, it would rank as the country’s seventh largest, giving it approximately 20 electoral votes.

“The Xbox LIVE community is active, vocal and passionate,” said Marc Whitten, general manager of Xbox LIVE. “We’re thrilled to partner with Rock the Vote to make it easier than ever for youth voters — and our members — to register and be heard.”

Through the Rock the Vote partnership, Xbox LIVE members will be able to register to vote, voice their opinions to the candidates through an exclusive forum and participate in potentially election-predicting polls. They will also be able to download Rock the Vote public service announcements.

Xbox also will have a presence at both the Democratic and Republican conventions, promoting the Rock the Vote partnership and educating delegates about creating a safer entertainment environment on Xbox 360 and Xbox LIVE using the built-in parental controls known as Family Settings. These industry-leading settings allow parents to limit their children’s access to video games and movies and manage their activity and communications on Xbox LIVE. For more information on Family Settings and other safety-enhancing gaming tools and resources, delegates can stop by the Xbox on-site kiosk or visit http://www.xbox.com/isyourfamilyset.
