WWE Pulls No Punhes With Latest Hall of Fame Inductee

With no new announcements in the past few weeks about Hall of Fame inductees, WWE has gotten back in the swing of things and have announced that Mike Tyson will be entering their celebrity wing of the Hall of Fame this year.

Mike Tyson has a very strong history with the WWE as he was involved in one of wrestlings most important matches in Stone Cold Steve Austin vs Shawn Michaels at Wrestlemania 14. This event had gained mainstream media attention due to the involvement of Tyson, who at the time was coming off his infamous ear biting of Evander Hollyfield, and had the wrestling community intrigued due to rumors of HBK retiring and the possibility of Stone Cold winning his first WWE Championship.

Leading up the event Tyson was scheduled to be an impartial “enforcer” during the main event of Wrestlemania, but Stone Cold wasn’t too pleased with Tyson as Austin felt he was the baddest man on the planet and had no reason to trust Tyson during the match. This proved wise of Austin as Tyson later would align himself with Shawn Michaels and Degeneration-X pretty much securing that HBK would walk out of Wrestlemania with his title. But like many wrestling stories it was all another swerve and Tyson was actually in favor of Austin, which after blocking Sweet Chin Music and delivering the Stone Cold Stunner, Tyson would come in and count the 1-2-3 awarding Stone Cold his first WWE Championship.

Since his appearance at Wrestlemania in 1998, Tyson wasn’t too involved in the WWE world but returned last year to guest host RAW and team up with Chris Jericho to take on HHH and HBK as a newly reformed DX. This lead to another Tyson swerve as he would turn on Y2J and help DX pick up the win.

Mike Tyson will be joining Edge, The Four Horsemen and the rumored Mil Máscaras as 2012 WWE Hall of Fame inductees at this years Wrestlemania. Until then, enjoy the highlights below.
