I’ve often looked at the range of Batman range of figures and statues done in the style of various artists and thought to myself, “Who the hell cares? It’s just another Batman figure.”
Now I get it. Jim Lawson is an artist who was with Mirage Studios on TMNT from pretty much the beginning, and literally grew up as an artist there, developing into his own strikingly visually distinctive style. By the end of the latest run of Mirage TMNT comics, Tales of TMNT, Lawson’s style had become the definitive modern representation of the Turtles in sequential art. That is why it’s so cool to see this great custom figure by Rick Dries that really captures Jim’s distinctive art style. Something like this needs to be put into production, like, yesterday!
