One of Nerd City’s long running dreams has always been to go to Japan. With the Otaku culture, the crazy arcades, an obsession with comics and cartoons, and the toys…oh the toys, we’ve always considered Tokyo our sister city.
And until that day comes, where Nerd City can tear through Japan like so much tissue paper, we’ll have to settle for little bits of that country in the good ol’ USA. This year, our good buddies Reed Exhibitions are hosting the NY Anime Fest with kick-ass NY Comic Con, and hopefully Nerd City will meet some good people who will help us make our Japanese dreams come true.
One of the first cool announcements coming out of NY about the shows is that super hip Japanese girl group Puffy AmiYumi will be headlining the Far East to East showcase @ Irving Plaza October 10th. Most famous for the Teen Titans theme, amongst other things, Jpop queens Puffy AmiYumi should bring the house down.
As I continue to try to expand my Nerd horizons towards the far east, the combo Anime/ Comic Con show should only encourage my quest. Stay tuned for more Nerd City in NY news!
