Call of Duty: Black Ops Announced

April 30, 2010

Call of Duty Black Ops
Earlier this week, Activision teased that there would be the formal announcement of the next Call of Duty game later this week. Today is the day as Call of Duty: Black Ops was officially announced for a release date of November 9th 2010. I know what you’re saying, “But Mike, Call of Duty 4 didn’t come out that long ago how is a new one already coming out?”. Well that is because Call of Duty: Black Ops isn’t being developed by Infinity Ward (which Activision recently cut ties with Infinity Wards senior employees leading to mass resignations from others) but is being developed by Treyarch. Treyarch developed Call of Duty: World at War, which was not as good as the Call of Duty games developed by Infinity Ward but still successful critically and commercially.

Black Ops will take players “behind enemy lines” according to Activision, but not much more is known about the game at this time. This weeks episode of GameTrailers TV will have the first trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops, which will be available on all major systems in one form or another.
