Back in September, SEGA began teasing us with vague references to a new “old school” game called Project Needlemouse. Once announced diligent nerds scoured the internet for any clues on what this could be, uncovering design art very similar to the old Sonic games. Throughout the next months SEGA continued teasing us by unveiling random Sonic related character names crossing off a few everyday until it was revealed, officially, that the new game would be starring Sonic. Of course at that time SEGA didn’t tell us anything about how the game would look or play exactly, leading many of us to believe it would be a 2D style game with 3D graphics. Well today SEGA has confirmed 100% that Project Needlemouse will not only be a new Sonic game (as it was stated back in September) but will be a direct sequel to Sonic and Knuckles giving us Sonic The Hedgehog 4. The gameplay is exactly what most people, myself included, were looking for and that is old school 2D gameplay with fancy new graphics. Sonic 4 is scheduled to be available for download this summer on the Wii, PS3 and xbox 360.
