The Maxx finally coming to DVD

December 3, 2009

Everything

Amazon.com now has a listing for the complete series of MTV’s The Maxx coming to DVD soon. Unfortunately there is no release date for the series, but the listing page has a trailer for the release so it looks like we should be getting this sooner than later. The cartoon of course is based off of Sam Keiths excellent Image book The Maxx which is available at all your local comic book shops. You can pre-order the series for on $17.99 as it appears to be exclusive through amazon.com.

This line concerns me: “This product is manufactured on demand using DVD-R recordable media. Amazon.com’s standard return policy will apply.”
Makes me wonder how legit it is.

My guess is that it will be a limited release that is filled based off of orders not a full order that may end up with tons of unsold copies. But the packaging and ad all have the MTV logos and copyrights so I’m 99% sure it’s all legit.

Amazon has a side company that manufactures DVDs on demand. They currently have an agreement with Viacom (or whoever the hell the current parent company of MTV and Nickelodeon is) to produce DVDs of some of their series. The Rugrats, Doug, Rocko’s Modern Life, and Hey Arnold DVDs are produced in the same manner as the upcoming Maxx and The Head DVDs. I have the Rocko’s Modern Life DVDs and they’re pretty nice, quality-wise. The main weird thing is the DVDr color of the bottom of the discs…

I’m super psyched about the Maxx DVDs. I’d love to see more Liquid Television stuff. Haven’t had my Dogboy fix in years…
