There is no better feeling after seeing a show (of any kind) than a sore face because you’ve been smiling for it’s entirety. Such was the case for me tonight after I saw Vaudezilla’s sold-out performance of “Rollin’ Outta Here Naked”, their burlesque take on The Big Lebowski. Really, can you go wrong when you combine the Coen Brothers’ cult classic and strip tease? Well, you could, but the Vaudezilla crew didn’t – and they deserved the standing ovation they got at the show. The performances, the costumes; everything was dead on.
After the show I got to chat with the ladies, and they’re nothing but affable, warm people. They’re a hardworking group and you need to check out their shows. And you’re in luck: “Rollin’…” has been extended into October and moved from Gorilla Tango Theatre to a bigger venue, The Chopin Theatre. Exciting news for them! Links for the shows and their venues (as well as some of the ladies sites) are below. And a final note: when you’re a guy in a production full of beautiful, half-clad women it’s easy to be left in the shadows; that being said, the men who did perform in the show (including a near-perfect Dude) were just as crucial as the ladies – even if they weren’t as attractive.
I guess that’s the way the whole durned human comedy keeps perpetuatin’ itself.
