John Hughes dead at 59.

August 6, 2009

The man who defined 80′s teen dramedies has died of a heart attack, according to news sources.  Without him, we wouldn’t have the quirky, quotable vernacular we use on a daily basis; there would be no Russ Griswold, no Kevin McCallister, and certainly no Ferris Bueller; and bands like Dream Academy wouldn’t have found such celebrity if it weren’t for his films amazing soundtracks.  And though he hadn’t directed a film in over 18 years, he created a catalogue that will continue to be reference material for decades to come.  He will be missed.
