Zen the Intergalactic Ninja and Shocker Toys

July 22, 2009

Everything

Do you remember the awesomeness that was/is Zen the Intergalactic Ninja?  It was seriously one of my favorite books in the early 90′s.  Well, there’s good news for Zen fans, courtesy of Zen’s creators, Steve Stern and Dan Cote, and Shocker toys!  BTW, it’s all going down at SDCC.

From Steve and Dan:

Steve Stern and Dan Cote will be appearing at the Shocker Toys booth at Comic-Con 2009.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Jul 21, 2009 – 100 fans will receive a free copy of an autographed ‘Zen Intergalactic Ninja’ comic-book at this year’s Comic-Con.

The give-away event will occur on Friday and Saturday, July 24 and 25, to celebrate the upcoming release of two new ‘Zen’ figures from Shocker Toys.

Stern and Cote will appear at Shocker Toys booth #3849 on both days from 2 to 3 PM.  The first 50 fans to arrive at the booth each day will receive a highly collectible ‘Zen’ comic signed by both creators.  Among the books will be ‘Zen Intergalactic Ninja’ #1 from 1987.

Shocker Toys will be promoting the upcoming release of a 7-inch hyper-articulated Zen action figure, as well as a 5-inch Mallow designer figure of the alien hero at Comic-Con.

“These incredible new figures will be absolutely indispensable to collectors, because they’re the first Zen figures to feature the ET’s new facial appearance, which includes a nose and mouth, as well as his contoured breathing mask,” said Cote.

Fans will remember that Zen literally grew his new face in the landmark ‘Zen:  Bounty Hunter’ story.  The 50-page story can be read online at www.zenintergalacticninja.com.

“We’re looking forward to meeting both old and new fans at the Shocker Toys booth,” said Stern, “and to making lots of them very happy with a free autographed comic-book.”

A 7 inch hyper-articulated Zen figure from Shocker?  Yes! Yes! Yes!

This is not only a testament to the coolness of the Zen character, but also the quality of indie comic properties upon which Shocker is choosing to base their toys.
