In a press conference yesterday, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata announced that the upcoming sequel to Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort, will launch this June in Japan and July for the US (no word on UK release yet). When Nintendo announced their summer/fall line-up of games last month Wii Spots Resort was oddly missing from the press release, causing many people to wonder if we would see this new game/add on by the summer. It was important, in my opinion, for Nintendo to get this out by the June/July timeframe as EA Sports will be releasing Tiger Woods 2010 and EA Grand Slam Tennis this June and both titles utilize the motion plus add on. For those not familiar, the motion plus will add 1:1 response time to the Wii-mote basically making whatever you do in the slightest to the Wii-mote will transfer to the game exactly how you wanted it to. No word on a price point yet for Sports Resort and the Wii motion plus add on which will be bundled together.
