Cinematic Titanic @ Lakeshore Theater

December 20, 2008

Last night, Max was blessed enough to get a chance to see Cinematic Titanic @ Chicago‘s uber-kickass Lakeshore Theater.

For those who don’t know (fucking idiots), Cinematic Titanic is the new live stage incarnation of nerd masterpiece Mystery Science Theater 3000. Featuring original cast members Joel Hodgson, Trace Beaulieu, J. Elvis Weinstein, TV’s Frank Conniff, and Mary Jo Pehl, the gang is just as funny as ever, and the show only benefits from the addition of a live audience. Friday night’s film, Blood of the Vampires, is a Philipino¬† vampire flick featuring moustaches, a blood sucking grandma, and black face, and it was as awesome as it sounds.

As a super-awesome added bonus, the opening act was none other than Nerd City favorite Dave (Gruber) Allen (The Naked Trucker, Freaks and Geeks’ Mr. Rosso).

If you get a chance, there are two more shows tonight, and I highly recommend you check it out. For those who can’t make it, (and if it’s sold out which it was Friday), you can get the previous show DVD’s here.¬† Seriously, this show is like Nerd heaven, and the two grown men sitting alone reading ToyFare and playing Nintendo DS at the breaks proved it. (As opposed to me, the grown man sitting alone, weeping) If you still haven’t got the perfect X Mas gift for the nerd in your life, or you want to treat yourself to an evening of pure Nerd hedonism, then you must, must, check out Cinematic Titanic.
