Nintendo and others battle R4 sales

August 1, 2008

Nintendo, with 54 other companies, has finally begun what should be an interesting court battle against R4 distributers.  R4 is a fantastic device that allows you to play emulators on your Nintendo DS through the DS cartridge slot.  The R4 is an empty DS cartridge shell with a space for a micro SD card, which would hold your emulators.  Using the Unfair Competition Prevention Law as the legal grounding. Nintendo is asking for the cease of marketing, sales and importation of these Chinese-made devices.   So if any of you are interested in giving these R4 devices a try, pick one up quick through ebay or any game import website as prices are starting to rise in Akihabara where these are generally sold basically doubling in price in just a few days.
